Ellie Kerr-Smiley is a portraitist, whose work fundamentally focuses on women. In response to the millennia of women in art history depicted for and by the male gaze, Ellie’s female sitters are put into positions of power in their portraits, maintaining their identities and reclaiming the gaze.
