Jessica Edith Smolinski
I’m a multimedia artist living in New Haven, CT with my artist husband and two creative children. My artwork centers around ideas of life, death, fleeting moments, and memories. The subjects of loss and mourning compel me because I feel like life flies by, especially as a parent. What I’ve discovered though is celebration and joy are inherent to grief. Everything I miss or long for is because I have great love for what, or who, has passed. I’m inspired by traditional women’s crafts and the overlap of form and function and of making and caring. My studio practice is woven into the balance of my life as an artist and a working mother.
